Welcome to the Nest at Alberton Primary School. The Nest includes all Kindergarten and Reception children. We provide an exciting and engaging indoor/outdoor learning environment for children aged 3 to 6 years of age.
Learning in the Nest is hands-on, active and based on the individual needs and interests of each child. Educators actively engage with individuals, small groups and some large groups to ensure the needs of all children are being met.
We see children as competent and capable learners who come to us with a wealth of knowledge and ideas about the world. We are inspired by the research in the schools of Reggio Emilia, Italy. We work together with children through long term projects to discover ideas, develop theories and provide opportunities for learning and research alongside the children.
We also gain inspiration from the Nature Play theories, and The Nunga Way. We believe that children’s learning occurs as much in the outdoor environment as the indoors- not only do children learn about nature, they also learn in nature.
Our outdoor space in The Nest was redone in 2017, when we were also given the nationally accredited "Excellence" rating for our preschool program by the Australian Children's Education & Care Quality Authority. Learn more about this.
